Five Point Friday
Here’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week.
1.) Federer’s 3rd Knee Surgery
On Sunday, Roger Federer announced to fans that he would undergo a third surgery on his knee to give him “a glimmer of hope” that he can continue competing after hurting himself further during the grass-court season. Last week, he turned 40, and he’s realistic about the struggles that lie ahead, which has sparked questions about whether he’ll ever return.

2.) Billie Jean King’s Autobiography
On Tuesday, Billie Jean King released her autobiography titled “All In,” which has received high praise and dives into her career, activism, and commitment to fairness and social justice.
3.) Monfils’ Fake to Tweener
During his quarter-final match against John Isner at the National Bank Open in Canada, Gaël Monfils tracked down a lob, faked a forehand, and went for a tweener that turned into a winner. Monfils is always a showman on the court, and it was an impressive effort that brought the crowd to their feet.

4.) CrossCourt Teaser
The ATP and WTA teased a new series dubbed ‘CrossCourt’ as part of an effort to further unite the men’s and women’s tours. The episodes will go behind the scenes of life on tour with intimate one-on-one conversations between ATP and WTA players.
5.) US Open Wildcards
The US Open released their list of men’s and women’s wildcards for 2021, with headliners including Venus Williams, CoCo Vandeweghe, Jack Sock, and Brandon Nakashima.
