Five Point Friday
Here’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week in tennis.
1.) Djokovic Splits With Coach
With his 2024 season off to a less dominant start, Novak Djokovic has decided to part ways with his coach, Goran Ivanisevic. The pair have been working together since 2018 and have had massive success along the way, with Djokovic winning 12 Grand Slams and surging past Big 3 rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
2.) TopSpin 2k25 [April 26]
After a ten year hiatus, 2k Sports will be releasing the latest edition of their game TopSpin 2k25. With 24 playable athletes, including Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Carlos Alcaraz, and Iga Swiatek, it will be available across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
3.) Murray’s Injury & Defeat
Andy Murray was knocked out of the Miami Open in the third round with a heartbreaking 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (5) defeat to Tomas Machac. Murray competed hard in the match’s early stages, battled through an ankle injury, recovered from a 2-5 deficit in the third set, saved a match point, and was up 5-3 in the deciding tiebreak, but it still wasn’t enough. Murray will now assess whether he can rehab his ankle for one last shot at Wimbledon before retiring.
4.) 2 Stellar Plays By Alcaraz
Top seed Carlos Alcaraz has been lighting up the courts at the Miami Open, delivering some of the tournament’s most entertaining points, including one from each of his first two matches against Roberto Carballes Baena and Gael Monfils. Enjoy!
Incredible point between Alcaraz and Monfils. This kid produces candidates for best point of the year in every single match he plays…

5.) A 1st for the Miami Open
The Miami Open held its first wheelchair tennis invitational, showcasing eight players, including Diede De Groot and Alfie Hewett, who hold 39 and 27 Grand Slam titles. Although each of the Grand Slams features a wheelchair event, it’s not prevalent at other top-tier tournaments, so there’s a hope others will follow suit, helping to grow the sport and inspire a new generation of athletes.
