Five Point Friday
Here’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week in tennis.
1.) Top WTA Players Send Letter
According to John Wertheim of Sports Illustrated, most of the top 20 players sent a letter to the WTA expressing concern over the physical and mental demands of the tour, reportedly with a list of asks, one of which John Shared. Can you guess it?
Story to follow: Majority of top 20 (no Americans) send @WTA demand letter …”tour is becoming incredibly demanding on us, creating physical and mental stresses not sustainable in the long run.” list of asks include wage guarantee

3.) Rybakina’s Winning Mindset
In one of their latest podcasts, Red Bull sits down with world No. 5 Elena Rybakina to discuss her career and winning mindset. At only 17 minutes, it’s a quick listen to learn more about the journey of one of the world’s best.
4.) Stop Hitting Yourself
Hitting yourself with your racquet isn’t usually pretty, but it’s most definitely painful. At the Shanghai Masters, Jannik Sinner and Ben Shelton smacked themselves pretty good, which should make us feel a bit better the next time it happens to us.
That’s gotta hurt, @janniksin 😬🤣#RolexShanghaiMasters pic.twitter.com/2mP9piNKV3

5.) Dimitrov Pranking Players
Grigor Dimitrov loves his pranks, so when he had a chance to mess with a handful of fellow friends and competitors, he didn’t hesitate. It’s good for a quick laugh to kick off the weekend.
The players thought they were filming a promo…
…but they weren’t.
