Five Point Friday
Here’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week.
1.) Djokovic & Kenin Win AO
Novak Djokovic and Sofia Kenin are this year’s 2020 Australian Open Champions. Djokovic’s five-set win against Dominic Thiem brought his Grand Slam title count to 17 and helped him regain the world number one ranking.
Sofia Kenin, on the other hand, wins her maiden Grand Slam after defeating world number one Ash Barty in straight sets during the semi-finals and then taking down Garbiñe Muguruza in an entertaining three-set final. Kenin’s win brings her into the top 10 for the first time as world number seven.
2.) Best Australian Open Shots
Some of the best shots during a Grand Slam fly under the radar, but this recap video catches you up on the best from the Australian Open.
3.) Federer vs. Nadal Exhibition
Federer and Nadal will be playing a highly anticipated exhibition match today in Cape Town, Africa, to raise money for the Roger Federer Foundation. There will also be a doubles match before the main event featuring Federer and Bill Gates vs. Nadal and Trevor Noah of the Daily Show.
ESPN will be broadcasting the match at 1 pm ET, but you can also stream it on Tennis TV with a free account.

4.) Philippoussis Tweener
During his Legends Doubles match with partner Tommy Haas, Mark Philippoussis fires a tweener to end an outrageous rally against opponents Jonas Björkman and Mats Wilander. It’s a fun point that’s well worth a watch.
5.) WTA Fed Cup Qualifiers
This weekend, 16 teams will fight for a spot at the Fed Cup Finals in Budapest, Hungary, from April 14 to 19. The field will include six of the top ten players, including Sofia Kenin, fresh off her Australian Open win.
You can catch all the action on the Tennis Channel.
If you have a moment, I’d love to hear your feedback. Which topic is your favorite? What would you like to see more or less of each week?
