Five Point Friday
Here’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week.
1.) Mind-blowing ATP Cup Highlights
Wow! We’ve been treated to some pretty remarkable tennis this week with the inaugural ATP Cup. I’m glad they made this highlight reel because it would have been tough to pick which shots to include this week… seriously, it’s that good.

2.) ATP Cup Semifinals
If you haven’t had a chance to catch any of the ATP Cup live this past week, there’s still time. The semifinals begin today with Serbia vs. Russia and Australia opponent at the time of sending this, still to be decided. As I send this email, past 12am in Sydney, Spain and Belgium are still duking it out in doubles after Goffin defeated Nadal in straight sets.
Tomorrow the final will decide the Cup’s winner.
3.) Serena & Wozniacki Auckland Success
Serena and Wozniacki teamed up at the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, and have cruised their way right into the finals. But that’s not all… in singles, they each made the semis with a chance to meet in the finals. It’s proving to be an exciting start to the season for both of them.
In December, Wozniacki announced her planned retirement from tennis after this year’s Australian Open.
4.) Air Concerns Ahead of Australian
Australia continues to suffer from devastating bushfires, which caused the Canberra International tennis tournament to relocate 370 miles to Bendigo at the start of the year.
Australian Open event organizers are carefully observing the air quality to determine how they proceed. At the moment, the hope is that conditions improve over the next ten days.
Our thoughts are with the people and animals that have been impacted by the fires. If you’ve thought of donating, but haven’t known where to do so, check this page out on the Australian Open’s website.
5.) Tsitsipas Hits Father With Racquet
Well… this was different. During his match against Nick Kyrgios, current world #6 Stefanos Tsitsipas had an outburst where he smashed his racquet, and a subsequent swing of it hit his father, the Greek captain at the ATP Cup. No doubt, this is a moment he’ll soon like to forget.
If you have a moment, I’d love to hear your feedback. Which topic is your favorite? What would you like to see more or less of each week?
