Five Point Friday
Here’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week.
1.) A Guide to Tennis String Gauge
String gauge, or the thickness of a tennis string, is one of many factors to consider when buying a new set. In this video, I dive deep into the topic to help players make an informed decision when selecting a gauge.
2.) Wimbledon’s Classic Matches
Typically, we’d be in the midst of Wimbledon at this time in July. Although there’s no replacing the excitement of the tournament, Wimbledon has an entertaining series of ‘Classic Matches’ on YouTube to enjoy. My personal favorite of the past week is the quarter-final match between Agassi vs. Becker in 1992.
3.) Federer’s Shoe Raffle
In partnership with Swiss running company, On, Federer launched a limited 1,000 pair release of his new shoe, The Roger, via a raffle. Fans could enter for a chance to buy the shoe, which has since expired. If you missed the opportunity, you can sign up to hear about future releases.
4.) Elliot Benchetrit’s Tweener
During his Ultimate Tennis Showdown match against Dustin Brown, Benchetrit tracked down a drop shot to hit a tweener that caught Brown flat-footed for a winner. It’s a quick replay.

5.) Live Tennis Continues
Despite the rise in COVID-19 cases, live tennis continues with tournaments, for the most part doing their best to take precautions to keep players, staff, and spectators safe. This weekend, the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) in France wraps up, World Team Tennis in West Virginia kicks off, and a new edition of Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) Pro Tennis starts up in Spain.

If you have a moment, I’d love to hear your feedback. Which topic is your favorite? What would you like to see more or less of each week?
