Five Point Friday
Here’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week.
1.) String Tension [An In-depth Guide]
String tension is an excellent fine-tuning mechanism for getting the most out of a racquet and performing your best on the court. In this video, I dive deep on the topic to provide players with a thorough understanding so they can determine the ideal tension for their game.
2.) World #1 Skipping US Open
World #1 Ash Barty has decided to skip the US Open due to the risks COVID-19 presents. It’s a reminder that even if tournaments decide to move forward, they still need players to show up. Earlier this week, world #2 Simona Halep decided to skip the Palermo Ladies Open in Italy for similar reasons, so it will be interesting to watch how things unfold with tennis returning in August.
3.) Dive Volley On Hard Court
Dustin Brown is well-known for his acrobatic shot-making skills, and his dive volley winner on a hard court to win his Ultimate Tennis Showdown match against Corentin Moutet is pretty spectacular.

4.) Amazing Shots *Almost*
In this unique highlight reel, we catch a glimpse of shots that would have gone down as some of the best… if made. Of course, they weren’t, but they’re still fun to watch.
5.) An Unfriendly Meeting at Net
Handshakes have been replaced with racquet taps at the net after a match concludes, but when Dan Evans defeated Kyle Edmund in his Battle of the Brits match, he received a bit more than a tap.
Eeek ? Not sure either side handled it well. https://t.co/ixJvfq5qNA
