Here’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week.
1.) Babolat Pure Drive 2021 [Review]
Now in its 10th generation, the Babolat Pure Drive 2021 retains its time-tested formula while incorporating a handful of noteworthy refinements for what I expect will remain one of the game’s most popular tennis racquets. In my latest video, I explore the frame in-depth to help players determine if it’s a good fit or worth an upgrade.
2.) Federer Answers Fan Questions
Ahead of Roland Garros, Federer sat down to answer a handful of fan questions, including his favorite hobby and WTA player, as well as his thoughts on coaching on tour in the future.
In her second-round French Open match against Mihaela Buzărnescu, Serena eventually came up with the goods to close out a fun point that left both players laughing.
4.) Impressive 33-Shot Rally
Gaël Monfils and Mikael Ymer are incredible athletes, so it’s no surprise that we were treated to some memorable tennis during their second-round Roland Garros match. In the point, Ymer’s defense was about as good as it gets, and he eventually closed out the match in four sets for his first win against a top 20 player. Ymer is from Sweeden and is currently ranked #102.
World #1, Ash Barty, had an excellent clay-court run heading into the French Open but was forced to retire in the second round due to an acute left hip injury that she sustained practicing before the tournament. The news comes after she retired from the Italian Open last month due to a right arm injury that she’s struggled with since she was a teenager.
If you have a moment, I’d love to hear your feedback. Which topic is your favorite? What would you like to see more or less of each week?
