Five Point Friday
Here’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week.
1.) Intro to Ladder Drills for Tennis
Footwork is essential for success on the court, and agility ladders are an excellent tool for helping players improve. This week, I pulled together five of my favorite easy ladder footwork drills for tennis, which is a great starting point if you’ve never used this piece of equipment before.
2.) ATP & WTA Postpone… Further
Together, the ATP & WTA announced extending the suspensions of the tour through July 31, 2020, due to the pandemic. Previously, the date was July 13. Travel restrictions will likely remain a hurdle to restarting, and next month, we expect to hear a decision about the US Open’s fate.
3.) Tennis Safety Briefing Gets Silly
New York politician, Laura Curran, recently gave a COVID-19 briefing and spoke about how to stay safe while playing tennis. It didn’t exactly go to plan but gave the crowd a good laugh. “You can kick their balls, but you can’t touch them.”
Ha, good for a quick laugh. “You can kick their balls, but you can’t touch them.” https://t.co/gXFIlSDyve

4.) Top 10 ATP Gladiator Moments
Sometimes players have to dig deep to get the job done. This highlight reel uncovers a few gems – my favorite was Hewitt in 2004 at 6:14 in the video and Nadal and Djokovic at 15:20.
5.) USTA Safety Tips Amid COVID-19
With tennis courts slowly beginning to open back up around the world, TennisWarehouse put together a video to cover the USTA’s tips to stay safe when you go out to play.
If you have a moment, I’d love to hear your feedback. Which topic is your favorite? What would you like to see more or less of each week?
