Five Point Friday
Here’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week.
1.) “Settling the Score”
In a new documentary released on Netflix, an Argentine journalist strives to prove that his countryman, Guillermo Villas, was wrongly denied the No. 1 world ranking in the 1970s. I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet myself, but I look forward to sitting down to enjoy it this weekend.
2.) Federer & Edberg’s 40 min Chat
It’s not all that often you get an extended chat with two legends like Edberg and Federer discussing everything from their iconic Pro Staffs to playing serve and volley tennis and practicing the SABR. With plenty of laughs, it’s an excellent conversation that’s well worth saving for an evening.
3.) Halep Tests Positive for COVID
World #2, Simona Halep, became the highest-profile WTA athlete to share that she tested positive for COVID-19. Luckily, she’s doing well and suggested she’s recovering from mild symptoms. Halep had previously opted out of the US Open in August due to health concerns with the virus.
Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know that I tested positive for COVID-19. I am self-isolating at home and am recovering well from mild symptoms. I feel good… we will get through this together ??

4.) John Millman’s 1st Title
In some ways, it feels like years ago, but John Millman’s epic five-set Australian Open battle with Roger Federer took place on January 24, 2020. Millman’s a physical player, often described as a hard worker and friendly all-around guy on tour, so it was great to see him claim his first ATP title at the Astana Open in Kazakhstan.
5.) Nadal Hits 1k Club
During his first match at the Paris Masters, Rafa fought back from a set down to defeat Feliciano Lopez, 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 and claim his 1,000 career win. Nadal is only the fourth player to reach this mark and joins Jimmy Conners, Roger Federer, and Ivan Lendl, who have 1,274, 1,242, and 1,068 wins. Of the four, Rafa has the highest winning percentage at .833, with Federer not far behind at .821.
If you have a moment, I’d love to hear your feedback. Which topic is your favorite? What would you like to see more or less of each week?
