Five Point Friday
10 Oct 2019/Start the ConversationHere’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week.
1.) Andy Murray’s Wild Week
After reaching the quarterfinals of the China Open, Murray’s ranking skyrocketed over 200 places from 503 to 289. Then he was confirmed as a competitor at the 2020 Australian Open. After his hip surgery, it looks like his comeback is in full swing. Next up, at the Shanghai Masters, he hit a screaming winner you’ll have to see to believe.
He ended the week telling Fognini to shut up during a heated debate over a hindrance.
2.) Jim Courier Podcast [Listen Now]
Former world #1 and four-time grand slam winner Jim Courier joined the Tennis.com Podcast this week to talk about making tennis a better sport. From delegation of prize money to American minor league tennis, it well worth a listen.
3.) Osaka vs. Barty China Highlights
Osaka is closing out the year in style. Taking her second straight WTA final at the China Open over world #1 Ashleigh Barty as she fought back from a set down. Catch the highlights of this entertaining and highly anticipated match.
4.) Federer’s Basketball Skills
During an event for fans leading up to the Shanghai Masters, Federer and Marin Cilic played some hoops. Right off the bat, Federer effortlessly drained a few of his first shots and had the crowd fired up. Should we expect anything less?

5.) Zverev’s Flying Racquet
Every once in a while, we’ll see a player’s tennis racquet slip from their hands, but their racquet rarely soars into the stands. During his round of 32 match against Frenchman Jimmy Chardy, that’s exactly what happened.
If you have a moment, I’d love to hear your feedback. Which topic is your favorite? What would you like to see more or less of each week?
