Here’s a brief video where I share an up-close view of the Racket Expressions Dampener’s design, including how to install it.
Design
Racket Expressions offers several amusing designs featuring everything from a monkey to a taco, Santa, and, wait for it, a poop emoji. I’ve tested several, but one of my favorites is the shark chewing on a tennis ball.
It’s similar to most button-style dampeners but has a distinct shape with the outline of a maniacal-looking shark grinning with teeth exposed as it chews on a tennis ball and outlined in black.
It measures 23.2 mm tall, 26.3 mm wide, and 9.3 mm thick. Weighing 3.5 grams, it’s lightweight but has plenty of material to reduce vibration—an ideal balance for performance that limits its impact on racquet specs.

Fit & Installation
I’ve found all of Racket Expressions’ dampeners I’ve tested to install relatively easily between my racquet’s two center main strings, and the shark design is no exception, partly due to its narrower rectangle core.
Once set in place, I push it up into the bottom cross string for a snug fit, but I’ve found it does tend to slip down or rotate a little on occasion. This movement occurs because its rectangle core is narrower than the space between most center main strings, allowing it to swivel.
Performance
Don’t let the cute designs fool you. When hitting with Racket Expressions’ shark dampener, I found it to do a great job softening the ping sound of my racquet, nearly eliminating it but for the faintest of noise.
During my tests, I also found it to offer moderate vibration reduction, softening my racquet’s feel while allowing some feedback to travel to my hand, resulting in a responsive feel that enhances my racquet.
Downsides
Their most significant downside is that they periodically come loose and fly out of my racquet, which can be frustrating. I’ve lost several this way, but it hasn’t been an issue when testing on my racquets with smaller head sizes and tighter string patterns.
Test Summary
The Racket Expression shark dampener is a fun and easy way to inject personality into my game while minimizing my racquet’s ping and providing moderate vibration reduction to enhance its feel.
Who Should Buy It
I recommend Racquet Expressions dampeners to players looking to add flair to their racquet while retaining the practical benefits of vibration dampeners, including a less prominent ping and better feel.
