Five Point Friday
20 Sep 2019/Start the ConversationHere’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week.
1.) Laver Cup Kicked Off
Today, the 2019 Laver Cup kicked off in Geneva, Switzerland. This year’s third edition of the tournament will run through Sunday and features the return of Rafael Nadal who was absent last year. Amazon Prime is broadcasting coverage globally – check here for other ways to watch.
2.) Hydrogen Portable Ball Machine
A ball machine that weighs 17 lbs (7.7 kg), holds up to 100 tennis balls, and clocks a max speed of 70 mph! Yep, this thing is real, and it’s on pre-order right now.
3.) Ridiculous Drop Shots
Everyone loves a dropper, but this highlight reel of the best ever recorded on film is bonkers.
4.) Delpo Back on the Court Again
Former US Open champion and fan-favorite Juan Martin Del Potro returns to the court for his first hit after being sidelined for months since June when he refractured his right knee cap. Fingers crossed he heals up nicely for a 2020 return.
5.) Can you Guess these Grunts?
Featuring Zverev, Rublev, Edmund, and more, the ATP is back at it again with their latest challenge featuring players trying to guess audio recordings of other player grunts. Equal parts awkward and funny, we think you’ll enjoy.
If you have a moment, I’d love to hear your feedback. Which topic is your favorite? What would you like to see more or less of each week?
