Five Point Friday
Here’s your roundup of the five most interesting things I’m enjoying or thinking about this week in tennis.
1.) Djokovic 60 Minutes Interview
In 2011, Novak Djokovic sat down for his first 60-minute interview. Now, 12 years later, at age 36, he’s won 20 more majors as he chats with Jon Wertheim to discuss his career, achievements, and future. Jon and Novak have been at odds, so if you’re curious how this type of story comes together, check out John’s behind-the-scenes piece on SI.
2.) Sharapova on Armchair Expert
Former world No. 1 and five-time major champion Maria Sharapova sits down with Dax Shepard and co-host Monica Padman on their podcast, Armchair Expert. It’s a fun and light interview that dives deep into her early tennis life, along with plenty of detours and discussions about her time off the court.
3.) Rafa vs. Alcaraz Netflix Slam
On Sunday, March 3, 2024, Netflix will stream The Netflix Slam, featuring countrymen Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz live in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. With Rafa returning to the tour in the first week of January, let’s hope he stays healthy leading up to the date.
Here? … Announcing The Netflix Slam 🎾 live at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas! Join me, @CarlosAlcaraz, and many more on March 3rd. #TheNetflixSlam @MGMResortsIntl @netflix pic.twitter.com/GM7xcTc8g5

4.) WTA Plans for New CEO
After a challenging year on several levels for the WTA, the organization plans to split the roles of Chairman and CEO, currently held by Steve Simon. Once a new CEO is hired, Steve will become Executive Chairman, allowing each leader to focus on distinct areas the WTA requires moving forward.
5.) Rublev’s Drops Clothing Line
At the start of 2023, Andrey Rublev ditched Nike and started to sport Rublo, his own threads, with fans eagerly awaiting when they could buy some of his gear. Nearly a year later, the time has come, with the official debut of his clothing line. As a unique twist, 100% of the profits from his collection will go to children in need.
