Swiss Indoors, Basel Prize Money | 2024 Breakdown & Historicals

Swiss Indoors, Basel Prize Money

2024 Breakdown & Historicals

By Jon Crim
Website: Swiss Indoors

Held in Münchenstein, Switzerland, near Basel, the Swiss Indoors is an ATP 500 tennis tournament held annually in late October. Thriving with his hometown support, Roger Federer has the record for the most titles, winning ten times and reaching the final 15 times during his career.

The tournament takes place on hard courts at the St. Jakobshalle, an indoor multipurpose arena with a seating capacity of 12,400.

For 2024, the tournament narrowly managed to set the record for the most prize money in the event’s history, reaching €2,385,100, which translates to $2,643,227 and £2,031,700, for a 9% increase.

The singles champion will walk away with €402,466, while the runner-up will claim roughly half that, or €216,543. In both cases, winners at these stages see a 15% jump in prize money compared to 2023.

In doubles, the winning team will split €132,187, while their opponents will share €70,501, both figures up 3% over prior year.

In the following sections, I’ll provide a detailed overview and complete breakdown of the Swiss Indoors’ prize money and historical data for reference and quick comparison. Currency conversions from euros to US dollars and sterling pounds are available for quick reference.

2024 Full Breakdown

At the highest level, total prize money at the Swiss Indoors Basel is distributed by roughly 80% for singles and the remaining 20% for doubles, which is standard across most ATP and WTA tournaments.

However, beyond discipline, we can break prize money further by round, with players earning higher payouts as they reach the tournament’s later stages. For example, this year’s men’s singles champion will take home more than 24 times a player who exits in the first round.

The following tables break down prize money by round since 2007. You can scroll left to right to view the entire data set.

For comparison, I’ve converted US dollars to Euros and Sterling pounds, which I calculate using the prior year’s exchange rate on the day of the final for a close approximation of value.
