Chengdu Open Prize Money

2024 Breakdown & Historicals

By Jon Crim
Website: Chengdu Open

The Chengdu Open is one of six ATP tournaments held during the Asian swing after the conclusion of the US Open.

The ATP 250 hard court tournament started in 2016, replacing the Malaysian Open, and takes place at the Sichuan International Tennis Senter in Chengdu, China, which boasts an impressive facility, including a center court with a capacity of 6,000 fans.

For 2024, the Chengdu Open’s total prize money amounts to $1,171,655, which translates to €1,074,759 and £903,434 at the time of writing. It’s the largest purse in the tournament’s history and represents a modest 2% increase over the prior year.

The tournament’s champion in singles will receive a check for $178,195, which equates to 15% of the total purse and is down 2% compared to last year. On the other hand, the runner-up will pocket $103,950, 42% less than the winner and flat year over year.

In doubles, the team crowned champs this year will share $61,920, while the losing pair will split $33,130, 47% less than the winners.

More broadly, the tournament has prioritized prize money increases in 2024 for the earlier rounds. For example, losers in the first qualifying round will receive 26% more than last year.

The data in the following sections provide a complete breakdown of prize money at the Chengdu Open for quick comparison. You’ll also find currency conversions from euros to US dollars and sterling pounds.

2024 Full Breakdown

The Chengdu Open consists of two events, singles and doubles. Between the two, roughly 80% of prize money funds singles, while the remaining 20% goes to the doubles event, as is typical with ATP tournaments.

Beyond disciple, prize money breaks down further by how far a player progresses through the tournament. The better a player’s result, the more they get paid. For example, the winner in singles will earn over 14 times as much as a player who loses in the first round.

The following tables outline Chengdu Open’s prize money by round for singles and doubles, including historical data. Please note that I’ve used the prior year’s exchange rate on the day of the final to convert prize money to US dollars and sterling pounds.
