Brisbane International Prize Money
2024 Breakdown & Historicals
One of two ATP and WTA tournaments hosted in Australia leading up to the year’s first major, the Brisbane International takes place annually in Brisbane, Queensland, on the picturesque Gold Coast of Australia.
Founded in 2009, the tournament has enjoyed a 21-year history. To date, Lleyton Hewitt is the only Australian to have won the singles event, which he accomplished in 2015, defeating Roger Federer in three sets.
As a smaller outdoor tournament played on hard courts, it doesn’t boast the most impressive purse. However, the event’s prize money hit an all-time high of $661,585 for the men and $1,736,763 for the women, equating to 25% and 19% bumps, respectively, since the last time the tournament ran.
On the men’s side, the tournament’s singles champion will pocket $95,340, and the runner-up will claim a check for $95,340, a 5% bump for the winner and a 13% increase for his opponent.
On the lady’s side, the champ will take home $220,000, while the runner-up will earn $135,000. Both of these figures are reductions over the prior time the tournament ran as organizers focused more of the earnings on the earlier rounds.
If you’re curious, the men’s prize money is significantly lower due to the tier of the tournament, i.e., ATP 250 vs. WTA 500.
This guide provides fans with a detailed overview and complete breakdown of the Brisbane International’s prize money and historical data for reference and quick comparison.

2024 Full Breakdown
Singles is the Brisbane International’s main event. The ATP features a 32-player draw compared to the 24 teams for doubles, while the WTA has a 64-player singles and 32 teams for doubles.
As a result, organizers distribute prize money accordingly, with roughly 80% of the purse supporting singles and the remaining 20% going to doubles.
However, beyond the singles and doubles events, we can break prize money down by round to better understand earnings, with players making more money the further they progress. The following table summarizes this data over the years.
For your convenience, I’ve also converted prize money to euros and Sterling Pound, calculated using the prior year’s exchange rate on the day of the final for a close approximation of value.

Prize Money by Year
Every year, tournament organizers at the Brisbane International set prize money, which the event’s revenue heavily influences.
Some of the biggest influences on revenue include ticket sales, sponsorships, merchandise, and concessions, so as these change, so do available funds for prize money.
Since 2009, the prize money has increased or stayed flat every year except for 2010, 2015, and 2016 on the men’s side, so they have a decent track record of steady growth and success.
The following table outlines the yearly prize money for the Brisbane International since 2009. Compared to the first year, 2022 prize money is up 152% for the ATP and 782% for the WTA, the latter seeing the biggest jump as the event was bumped from the 250 tier to a 500 in 2012.
