Monte Carlo Masters Prize Money
2024 Breakdown & Historicals
Situated along the picturesque southern coast of France along the Mediterranean Sea, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is an ATP Masters 1000 clay court tournament that kicks off the clay court season.
The event takes place at the prestigious Monte-Carlo Country Club, one of the longest-running tennis tournaments dating back to 1897. Rafael Nadal, one of the best players of all time, has won the tournament a record eleven times, eight consecutive from 2005 and 2012.
In 2024, the tournament’s total prize money is €5,950,575, translating to $6,457,028 and £5,086,137. This is a moderate 3% increase over last year and the event’s largest purse in history.
The singles champion will do well this year, earning a check for €847,010, while the runner-up will pocket €462,528. These sums equate to a 6% decrease compared to 2023.
In doubles, the winning team will split €259,867, while their competitors who fall short of the title will earn €141,168, representing -9% and -8% decreases versus the prior year.

2024 Full Breakdown
The highest level breakdown of prize money at the Monte Carlo Masters is by discipline, with singles receiving 80% of the purse and doubles 20%.
Prize money breaks down further by round, where players who make it deeper into the tournament earn more. For context, the winner in singles will receive roughly 15% of the total prize money, more than 38 times the amount a player gets if they lose in the first round or 0.4% of the purse.
The following tables break down prize money at the Monte Carlo Masters by round since 2005. You can scroll left to right to view the entire data set. For a quick comparison, I’ve converted euros to US dollars and sterling pounds, which I calculate using the prior year’s exchange rate on the day of the final for a close approximation of value.

Prize Money by Year
On an annual basis, tournament organizers evaluate prize money, which tournament revenues heavily influence.
For example, in 2021, the Monte Carlo Masters ran with limited fans due to the pandemic and was canceled in 2020, resulting in fewer ticket, merchandise, and concession sales. As a result, prize money suffered a 60% decline in 2021 compared to 2019, when it last ran.
Apart from those extenuating circumstances, the tournament has done a fantastic job of steadily increasing prize money each year. Since 2005, the prize money has only declined twice and increased by 170%. The following table outlines yearly prize money at the Monte Carlo Masters.
Year | Total Prize Money | % Change |
